Valet parking is a value-added parking service provided at establishments such as 5-star hotels, restaurants, retail fronts and automobile facilities. These places all have several points in common, limited parking space, expensive parking charges and/or their car park is a distance away.

A valet is usually an employee of the establishment or an employee of a third party valet service. When there is a fee, it is usually either a flat amount or a fee based on how long the car is parked. Valet parking is most often offered (and is most useful) in urban areas, where parking is scarce, though some upscale businesses offer valet parking as an optional service, even though self-parking may be readily available.

There are many benefits of engaging a valet company like us to solve your parking woes!

  1. Parking spaces in Singapore is very limited and expensive. Parking at Hotels are especially expensive. Therefore, there is hardly any difference in cost to valet park your vehicle vs parking on your own in the Hotel’s car park.
  2. Convenience – Valet parking service saves the vehicle owner the hassle of having to find a parking space on her own. Save time and save the trouble!
  3. Limited parking lots – during events, when parking at the event venue is overcrowded and limited, valet parking helps by creating or maximising more space. This is also known as stack parking.
  4. Add a touch of luxury during events – we have provided our service at numerous large events including red carpet type events. We have our valet attendants to open vehicle door, greet the guests and direct them to their respective event venue.

“Valet Parking” is very often confused with the term “drive-home service”.  Cannot understand why though. Perhaps we have been led to think that sthey are one and the same. All, if not most of the “drive-home service” companies call their drivers valet, and refer to their service as “valet service”. But do know that they are not the same. In fact, the two of them are very different services!

Valet by definition means an attendant who parks cars for patrons at a hotel, restaurant, etc.

“Drive-home service” means a paid driver drives you and your car to your designated venue such as your home. So it is definitely not the same type of service. I’ve been trying to educate as many clients and/or potential clients about this difference for a long time.

I used to think that valet parking service is dangerous and expensive, but now I understand why it is so needed in not just Singapore, but most parts of the world. I am amazed at how America takes valet parking service so seriously. Even their valet drivers / attendants are so professional at what they do.

From the clients’ perspective (of engaging a valet company), there are several considerations such as:

  1. Reputation and experience of the valet company
  2. Insurance coverage
  3. Costs

I will touch on the above points in my next post.

No, we do not provide parking systems like automated parking systems or electronic parking systems. Car park management refers to various policies and programs that result in more efficient use of parking resources. This can also mean maximising car park revenue.

What we do provide is a service and experience on how to best maximise your existing parking space. This is especially useful for venues with large lanes and large but few/limited parking lots. Clients engage us as consultants to advise and assist to the best of our ability. The management of a car park is not as simple or straight forward as most people think it is. Experience and knowledge are what counts, as we must consider safety concerns, how many more parking lots do we need to create etc. Not all car parks are suitable to be maximised. Those car parks that are already tight in lanes and space are not conducive to be maximised due to safety regulations.

Some may think, how difficult can it be to park a car, or why does it take so long to park or retrieve a car. Points to consider:

How far away is the car park from where you handed the car to the valet?
How many people are also waiting to get their cars?
How many valet attendants are there?

Traffic marshals are especially useful to assist vehicle owners to park their vehicles and/or to provide directional assistance. These are the people who ensure safe movement of vehicles around a site and reduce the chance that accidents do happen.

Not just that! Traffic marshals can also guide guests to the venue which they are headed to.

It is mandatory to brief the traffic marshals on site before the start of their work, this includes deploying them to their pre-determined spots and they must know what to look out for and to always be alert on road situations. Never take anything for granted and never assume the driver will see you.

Training on safety and the equipment provided to the marshals are an essential part of the work process. Traffic marshals are very often overlooked by drivers, even though they are clad in luminous safety vests and/or carry LED safety light sticks. Why you may ask? I often wonder the same. Marshals play an important role especially during events or areas which are dimly lit or when there are constant movement (in and out) of vehicles.

Some clients may also choose to hire traffic marshals instead of valets for certain types of events.
